PRACTICAL GUIDELINES FOR ANY BUILDING PROJECT

PUT YOUR DREAMS ON PAPER

Start by writing down the requirements of your house, features and add sizes to the areas.
Alternatively make a rough sketch of the layout of your house in single-line format.
When sketching, take into account the layout of the property and other factors such as driveways, entertainment areas, north, etc.
Bring all your notes to us so that we can assist with the fine-tuning for the 1st stage plan of your new home.

CALCULATE THE PROJECT'S COST (NOT JUST THE HOUSE'S)

Before we start with a full costing, we do a feasibility study.
When you agree that the calculations will fall within your budget, we will redraw the sketch plan in CAD to scale and to allow for wall thickness, etc.
After you have confirmed the final layout, we will do the costing, based on finishes discussed with you at our initial meeting.
We then add all the documentation required by the banks for submitting the Tender for the final bond approval.

CONSTRUCTION

Once the bond has been approved and the Agreement signed, the building project will be added to the building program and the construction will commence.
During the construction project, we will be in constant communication regarding the progress and the decisions and selections to be made by you. See our innovative Project Tracker system!
You will be informed well in advance when you have to make the selection of tiles, sanitary ware and will be introduced to suppliers where we have accounts and who will be able to provide expert assistance.
You will also be introduced to contractors of specialised trades to discuss aspects that are only covered as provisional amounts in the original contract.
During the contract, we will also be in constant communication regarding the flow of the project and communicate all delays that will have an effect on the handover date.

Hough Construction will supply you with login details via email at the start of your project.

STEP 2 - LOGIN

STEP 3 - PROGRESS

Get an email notification each time the Project manager uploads new information to your project.

STEP 4 - TRACK

Track the progress of you building project by following the progress bar based on basic project phases. View photos from the building site and important documents uploaded by the Project manager.

STEP 5 - CONNECT

Leave comments and notes for the Project manager on the system.

HANDOVER

We will plan a pre-handover meeting where a list of outstanding work will be noted and a final handover date will be determined.
On handover, we will inspect the house together with you. After confirming that everything is in good and working order and that the final payment agreement is in place, the stage of practical completion is reached and the house will be handed over to you.

RETENTIONS

There are various guarantees applicable, which will be explained to you. Any water or electrical errors need to be reported promptly and will be fixed as soon as possible.
All minor defects will be listed and arrangements will be made to fix it on a set date.
